I love Vanilla (me)

Challenges that I come across me these days don’t seem that difficult anymore…

I take it back…totally kidding…they are still difficult…however, they just seem like they are easier to deal with. Big part of it is because I am a lot calmer when facing them. Whatever it is that’s coming to me, I handle it when it’s right in front of my face.

I am referring to my trip back to Indonesia. After 6 years of not coming back, I know for a fact that things will be different. I cannot wait to give my big brother a biggest hug. Then he’ll make fun of how short I am, then we’ll be back to normal and act like we’re brothers again: fight, make up, then lift weights together.

My trip isn’t just about my brother and I; it’s more so about my Nanny and I. She’s very sick and I plan to spend as much time as I possibly can with her before it’s too late. She’s my second Mom. She’s the one who took care of me when my parents were busy working. I am me partly because of her.

Most importantly, our entire family (my parents, sister, brother and I) will be reunited after almost 8 years.

Recent events that have just happened and will happen are making me realize that I am so lucky to be me:
  • I am going to be a man of honor of my very best friend, Tinia. Though my first reaction was a slight embarrassment because it stroked my masculinity ego, I snapped out of it and realized that not a lot of men in this world will have the honor and luxury of being a man of honor period. Being one kinda made me feel I am doing a great job as a friend for at least one person in this world. So I take it with an honor.
  • A recent event has also made me realize that I am so glad to be me. I’m no model and I’m not tall, at all. I work out but I don’t have a six-pack. I am tri-lingual and I don’t use big words in English because of that. But I am so glad that I am me because of that! I love my perfections and flaws altogether. K, except maybe the height..I could use a few more inches ahaha. ANYWAYS…this thought isn’t intended to be made about me…it’s actually about my family and friends. I am seriously not me if it’s not because of them…

If I’m an ice cream, I am so Vanilla. They’re plain…but they go well with everything! You don’t put a Cherry Garcia or Chocolate ice cream on top of an apple pie…you put Vanilla.

So thanks guys! Thanks for making me a true F.O.B with great friends & family. Thanks for making me Vanilla. :)

Did you know in old medicinal literature, vanilla is described as an aphrodisiac? Just sayin :P

Extra strength

I'm truly being tested right now and trying my best to look at things on the bright side.

The feeling of about to loose someone in our family who is really close to me is beyond scary. What my family is going through now is overwhelming and emotionally exhausting.

My brother has his own family and his medical condition to worry about, my sister also has her own family to tend to. Not to mention my parents, who are being strong while going through my Mom's health issue. Me? I'm good. I got nothing to worry about BUT my entire family. I'm the rock, I must be. First step is to tell yourself that, right? No complaints...be strong, Yonius.

So what's the bright side? I get to travel home and spend time with them. The whole family.

My mind is already in Indonesia.

Please pray for my family....and extra strength on the side for me.

Awesome
